About Me
I am a user experience researcher with over 20 years of practice drawing out meaningful feedback to improve products and help product teams achieve their goals.
Because I am curious by nature and want to understand why people think the way they do, I can quickly develop a rapport with research participants and put them at ease. This not only gets me efficient results and better feedback, it allows both of us to enjoy the research process more.
I am a world traveler, foodie, avid reader, and animal lover. If I am at home you can usually find me in the kitchen cooking up something healthy or snuggled up with my cat. Otherwise I will be on a plane, reading my book while heading somewhere new and exciting.
My Approach to Research
I've been doing user experience research work since 2002. There is no such thing as a 'typical project' because each project has unique goals, but here is an example of the process, along with some activities that I do on almost every project.
Project Kickoff
- Define research goals with stakeholders
- Identify the best methodology to achieve those goals
- Determine demographics for best research participants
- Create interview script
- Determine metrics
Recruiting
- Create screening criteria for participant recruiting
- Contact potential participants and schedule sessions
- Send reminder/confirmation emails and follow up after sessions
Research Sessions
- Facilitate sessions with participants
- Conduct debrief sessions with observers after each session
Data Analysis
- Work with observers on key learnings and initial synthesis of data
- Complete data synthesis by reviewing notes for additional details
- Gather quotes and/or video clips
- Create findings and recommendations document
Read Out
- Present findings and recommendations to project stakeholders and others as necessary
